Subject	Shifter boot replacement question

Message	I'm sure I'm asking the completely obvious,but I want to make completely sure. I ordered a Redline leather shifter boot and it should be here any day now. That metal ring at the top of the stock shifter,the leather shifter boot is supposed to be mounted over that,right? The boot is not supposed to be under that metal ring I'm guessing so you'll get a "seal" between the shift knob and the boot? It's been awhile since I've had it apart (I replaced the rubber dust covers that seal the hole where the shifter mounts yesterday) and I just want to make sure I do it completely right the first time so I won't have to mess with it again.
